Doublelock Compact Buffalo RED SCM wheel clamp

The Doublelock Compact Buffalo RED is an SCM-approved wheel clamp for securing boat trailers, trailers and caravans against theft. It fits steel wheels of 13, 14 and 15 inch with round holes – the vast majority of common trailer wheels. A trailer with a boat often stands unattended for weeks on a car park or driveway; a visible, certified wheel clamp is one of the most effective deterrents.

SCM approval

SCM is the Dutch certification mark for vehicle security; an SCM-certified wheel clamp is tested for resistance to attack and manipulation. Many insurers require SCM-approved security to fully insure a boat trailer, caravan or trailer against theft. This clamp is SCM approved under certificate MP030404.

How it works

Two sturdy steel pins engage the round holes of the wheel, so the clamp is fixed to the wheel itself and cannot be removed without the key; removing the wheel does not help a thief either, as the clamp blocks it. The supplied foam-backed cover plate protects the rim and shields the wheel bolts. Fitting takes about ten seconds without tools. The bright red colour is a visible deterrent from the road.

Tips

• Check that the trailer has steel wheels with round holes; alloy wheels are not suitable.
• Fit the clamp on the road side so it is visible.
• Keep spare keys in different places, never in the car or with the trailer.
• Spray the lock with lock lubricant a few times a year.
• Combine with a coupling lock for double security.
