Doublelock Loop Chain Long – 200 cm anti-theft chain

The Loop Chain Long from Doublelock is a 200 cm anti-theft chain for securing a boat, outboard motor, trailer or other valuable item to a fixed point. The 18 mm loopable chain is combined with an integrated stick: loop the chain around a post or through an eye, lock the stick and you have a closed circuit that is very hard to cut or manipulate.

SCM approval

This lock is SCM approved under number MP030601. SCM is the Dutch certification body for vehicle and vessel security; an SCM-approved lock has been tested against known theft methods. Many insurers require an SCM or ART approved lock for theft cover on boats, outboards and trailers – check your policy for the exact class required.

In practice

With 200 cm of chain there is enough length to loop through a jetty eye or around a mooring post and lock to a cleat or other fixed point on the boat. Also suitable for trailers and outboard motors. A protective sleeve prevents scratches on gelcoat or paint, and the set comes in a case for dry storage and transport.

Tips

• Keep the chain as high and taut as possible; a chain lying on the ground is easier to attack with heavy tools.
• Choose an anchor point that is itself theft-resistant.
• Keep at least one spare key at home and note the key number.
• Keep the receipt and SCM number; insurers ask for them in a claim.
