Geldermalsen, formerly known as the North-South connection Utrecht - Den Bosch via the ferry, has a rich history. The harbour, called "Achter 't Veer," served as a mooring for various commodities such as peat, bricks and roof tiles. The Linge originally had a different course, but the construction of the concrete bridge in 1941 led to changes. Simple jetties were built for fishing boats, and later the first passers-by came to moor.
Around 1960, the plan arose to establish the association W.S.V. Achter 't Veer, in consultation with the municipality. The harbour was dug out and the municipality provided basic facilities. In 1971, it was decided to expand the harbour and build a new clubhouse. On 18 May 1974, the marina was officially opened.
In 2020, redevelopment of the marina area started in cooperation with the West Betuwe municipality. This included modernisation of the marina, redevelopment of the Linge Park and the Heemtuin, and demolition of the outdated club building. The new club building, with 100 solar panels on the roof, meets modern requirements and makes the marina energy-neutral. The harbour layout was changed to create more passerby moorings and 16 camper van sites were created. An inviting promenade on the south side of the harbour nicely connects the city centre with the Linge riverbank. Construction and building were made possible by an active group of volunteers from the association and were completed in
