Jachthaven Het Jacht is located in the village of Nieuwendam, situated on part of the Waterlandsezeedijk with charming old cottages and the café "Het Sluisje" near the lock. The lock, built around 1565, was the origin of this dike village and served as a transhipment point for goods transported to the hinterland.
The establishment of Het Jacht took place in 1976, after the shipyard "Het Jacht" ceased to exist. The land was divided into lots and the water into water boxes (36 of them), all privately owned.
With a standing mast, Het Jacht is accessible from the Marker/IJsselmeer and IJmuiden.
Nieuwendam has a rich maritime history and was once a centre for shipping and ship maintenance. In the nineteenth century, the yard of the Meursing family was famous and in the twentieth century it was sold to shipbuilder Bernhard. He had several buildings built, including a residential house, an office, a warehouse and workers' houses on the Scheepsmakerskade. This yard was known as "The Yacht." More information on this can be found under the "History Wharf" section.
Around the harbour, you will find large characteristic houses built in the 16th and 17th centuries for Amsterdam notables. Flats have also been built in a former post office and there is a row of houses from 1909 under the dike that originally served as hospital flats. The Dutch Reformed Church, built in 1843, still houses an interior from 1644.
In 1572, there was the battle of Nieuwendam, where the Spaniards tried to capture the entrenchment from the Sea Beggars, but they held out, thanks in part to "the Fort."
The Yacht is an Owners' Association and does not have berths or winter storage spaces. Passing berths cannot therefore be reserved and depend on the availability of members. Boxes marked green are available for passers-by.
It is advisable to contact the harbour master prior to your arrival. You can reach him on 06 43 125 667, and he will provide you with information and assistance on mooring.
Payment can be handled via the BLUE WATER APP, which you can download for free on your mobile phone. The harbour master or his deputy will check the payment and offer further support. Shore power sockets are available on the jetties (up to 16 amps) for passers-by, included in the harbour fee.
A long drinking water hose is available on a blue reel, and after paying the berthing fee, you can use the water taps freely. Regular flushing is required due to possible legionella contamination. You are not allowed to wash your boat with tap water.
Toilets and showers are freely accessible. However, Wi-Fi is not available due to lack of cabling from the embankment.
Waste (except chemical waste) can be deposited in the brown container next to the harbour office.
During the boating season, maintenance of boats, both in the water and on shore, is not allowed. Various facilities are available around The Yacht, including:
