Welcome to Watersports Club Aegir, located on the idyllic Bergse Voorplas, one of the most picturesque spots in Rotterdam Hillegersberg. Since its foundation in 1926, WV Aegir has produced countless sailing champions, all learned on the beautiful Bergse Voorplas.
For prospective members, the association offers several membership options. Adults and students wishing to become members fill in the application form and must be nominated by two adult Aegir members. After an interview with the introduction committee, a recommendation to the board on membership follows. Children under 18 can be nominated by a parent, and there is also the possibility of partner membership for those who share a household.
W.V. Aegir offers berths exclusively to members, with currently a waiting list of about 2 years. The marina, located on the Bergse Voorplas, offers not only a beautiful location but also excellent facilities.
On the terrace, provided by catering establishment The Sailor, you can enjoy peace and quiet and breathtaking sunsets. The Sailor also offers the possibility of organising parties, children's parties, meetings and anniversaries. A welcoming place for young and old to relax with a bite to eat and a drink.
At Watersports Association Aegir, safety comes first, especially when learning to sail. With enthusiasm, the association has been giving sailing lessons to children on the beautiful Bergse plassen for decades. As soon as you have swimming diplomas A and B, you can start sailing lessons.
At Aegir, children learn to sail according to the recognised national CWO teaching method, guided by experienced sailing trainers. In addition, the association offers the opportunity to continue sailing competitively. Safety is a priority; the association adapts lessons to weather conditions and pays attention to skills such as capsizing and straightening the boat, preferably in the pool in colder weather and on the lake in warmer weather.
