Marinco Giant Dynaplate: sintered bronze grounding plate for SSB radio grounding, lightning protection and bonding on yachts. Read more.
The Giant Dynaplate is a sintered bronze grounding plate mounted on the outside of the underwater hull. It forms the electrical contact between the boat's ground system and the surrounding water. It is mainly used as a ground for SSB radios and other transmitting equipment, as part of a lightning protection system, and for bonding metal parts in the hull without large copper plates or long cable runs.
The porous sintered bronze consists of compressed bronze spheres, giving a true contact area with the water many times larger than the plate's outer dimensions. This gives a low transition resistance, which benefits electronics and reduces RF interference. The material resists electrolytic and galvanic corrosion and is little affected by fouling. The Giant is the largest size in the Dynaplate series, for applications needing a large ground area such as lightning protection and transmitters on larger yachts; for simple bonding on smaller boats a smaller plate is often sufficient.
